ER

Today was a no fun day in the Emergency Room. I gave Kay a breathing treatment before bed. She woke me up in the middle of the night for another one, then I was off to work. Josh gave her another treatment at 9am. My parents picked up the girls and Kayleigh was already begging for another treatment by 11! So they called me a work, while they gave her another treatment. By the time it was over, she was still coughing and asking to go to the hospital. So I meet my Mom and Kayleigh at Cardens. This was the exact weekend last year that we took her there! Thank goodness this was not a replay of last year. She was not nearly as bad as last year, because we knew the signs and got her there early. She got a few more back to back breathing treatments, Motrin, and some steroids. We had the same Dr as last time, Dr Luma, who we love (but hope to not have to see again). We were thankfully sent home with some oral steroids and inhaled steroids. Hope this does the trick. We have an appointment with a Peds Pulmonologist in the next few weeks also. She did excellent in the hospital! She was polite and did everything they asked. Except drink the water because as she told her nurse “It did not have enough fresh ice!” We knew she was starting to feel better, when she became her bossy little self. She got a little giddy and loopy after like the third breathing treatment, maybe all that oxygen. She was giggly and told me she “like couldn’t feel her brain.” Wow, way better then our last trip to the ER when we had to stay for a few days. It is so hard to watch your baby not being able to breath!

Big thanks to Grandma Lisa for taking her and staying with me. She is such a huge support and a resource having to suffer with asthma herself. Hopefully this will be our last visit to the ER and an uneventful Spring!
